If you live in China or you travel/work here there is no way around a good VPN. We have tried lots, these are our favorites:
VyprVPN: Sebastian’s favorite. Used for many years now and still always reliable with competent, 24-hour customer service.
ExpressVPN: Another great VPN that we’ve started to use lately, very fast and reliable.
For more up-to-date recommendations and detailed analysis of VPN providers check this blog post.
Upwork: Great for hiring freelancers for smaller and bigger projects.
Basecamp: We use basecamp for all our projects. It’s free to use for a limited number of projects, for unlimited there’s a premium version that we’re using. Check it out, very easy to use and highly recommended!
PomodoroTechnique: Check it out in case you haven’t heard about it yet. Sebastian uses and recommends TeamViz for task management and Pomodoro.
Building Email Lists
AWeber: Great Email Marketing. If you want to build a list (which you should no matter what business you’re in) you should go with AWeber.
Shopify: If you want to set up your own eCommerce site we highly recommend Shopify. Super fast and easy to set up.
For those of you interested in studying Chinese. In our opinion everyone should be studying Chinese these days 😉
Pleco: Still the best Chinese study tool for iPhone/Android out there. Sebastian has been trying dozens throughout the year but this is still his favorite.
Wenlin: Old but gold. This Software has been around for 15 years but still great for studying Chinese on your PC or MAC. Copy paste words or whole sentences and translate them with mouseover, learn about Etymology, stroke orders. Not cheap but highly recommended.
Zhongwen Popup Dictionary: Amazing free Plugin for Chrome and Firefox that translates all Chinese via mouseover to English and includes a dictionary. Every serious student of the Chinese language should use this.
